Vintage Butterick 3042 in Wool Plaid

I wrote previously about my affinity for wrap skirts and so when I found vintage Butterick 3042 on Etsy, I had to add it to my collection.

This darling wrap skirt is made from four pieces (not including waistband, underlay, etc,) and has a kick pleat in back, and several pleats in the front.

These pleats create the perfect amount of body around the hemline.

All six buttons in front are functional. I rarely use my sewing machine for buttonholes (when I still lived in California I would use my mother's machine because it was much nicer than mine and made beauuuutiful buttonholes) but I have to say I am so proud of my trusty lil' necchi. She did a beautiful job and made six lovely buttonholes without a glitch (and without a buttonhole foot!).  See this post on how to make your own buttonholes without a fancy foot.

The fabric is from The Tin Thimble, and while I took the last of this particular one, they always have some great wool plaids that are either new or vintage.

What projects are you hoping to finish this November? If you're a new seamstress, would you be interested in  learning how to sew buttonholes? Comment below! Thanks for reading.

    1. Thank you, Em! It was a good pattern because it has all these separate pieces that allowed me to cut around the moth holes, haha.
