Corduroy Dress with Abalone Back Buttons

Several years ago now, my parents renewed their wedding vows atop a mountain near the Sierra Buttes. It was a handmade affair. My mom nuno felted & sewed her 'wedding' dress, a good family friend put together the bouquets, my mom put together her flower crown, the small affair was catered by my incredibly food-talented sister and I handmade this dress to wear for the special day.

It is made from a very soft, baby wale corduroy. The belt is 100% linen and the back features vintage, 1 1/2" abalone buttons.

It's an altered version of a very simple Simplicity that I have since misplaced. The original pattern buttoned up the front.

It was such a sweet, sweet day. Here's my nephew with just a fraction of the incredible view we had.

My sisters and my parents.

It's been just about 4 years since this day, and every October it warms my heart and my soul to reminisce about it.

Thanks for reading, have a lovely weekend!
